Ab 9.1995 trennten sich dann die Wege.Die amerikanischen Modelle bekamen das System OBD2 und die für Europa bestimmten Modelle mussten mit EOBD (European On Board Diagnostic System) vorlieb nehmen. Einer Art erweitertem OBD1. In den USA und Kanada war OBD2 ab dem 1.1.1996 vom Gesetzgeber aufgrund von US Abgasbestimmungen für Neuwagen vorgeschrieben. OBD2 Systeme sind an der Scannerschnittstelle im Fussraum des Fahrers zu erkennen. Ein OBD2 Scanner ist auch der einzige Weg um OBD2 Fehlercodes auslesen und löschen zu können.
